This weekend Boston transformed to Christmas-land, with lights strewn about everywhere you turn, and Christmas music playing in every restaurant downtown. With the cold nipping at my nose, I bundled up and headed to the hot chocolate pop up, "Pop It Like It's Hot" at the Revere Hotel. Hot chocolate is free but donations are accepted for the local nonprofit Home for Little Wanderers. The chocolate is from Taza, and the flavors are ever-changing. Every Friday from 3-6pm until December 21st, they will be doling out these tasty free concoctions!
After our warming hot chocolate with torched marshmallows,
we headed to a quick and casual holiday dinner at 49 Social a flew blocks away.
The night was long and included a trip to Marliave near 49 Social, and Sandrine's in Harvard Square (where we ended up being serenaded by the MIT Algorithms...who knew), before ending up at Russell House Tavern. I started with a few Jonah Crab claws and ended with the deviled local farm eggs with white anchovy, oil cured olives & chili oil.
The next day was spent getting more into the
holiday spirit by decorating the house...
before heading out to Stephi's on Tremont for drinks,
followed by late-night snacks at Stella.
We split some burgers & fries and the quattro funghi grilled pizza with shiitake, crimini, oyster mushrooms (and a mystery mushroom) with white truffle oil...which would have been good but they were heavy with the truffle oil. I'll have to go back not at midnight to try again!
We woke up to homemade mocha frappuccinos (recipe this week)
before completing the decorations.
Dinner was tetrazzini to get in the cheesy mood before heading to our
cheese spelunking class at Formaggio Kitchen.
After an activity-packed weekend, I'm doing some last-minute organizing
before crawling into bed and curling up for a busy week ahead.
