simple weekend recap: edition 9

A gray and rainy holiday weekend began with a delicious dinner at 80 Thoreau, as always, with friends. After a late night of catching up, I slept in before heading to a late brunch at Aka Bistro in Lincoln.

A bowl of warm soup, a massive salad, and the best french fries
& garlic aioli in the world for brunch...

followed by experimenting with finger limes, which are like lime caviar...
little balls of lime that pop in your mouth...

Sunday morning I made no-knead bread from a Le Creuset recipe, while T installed
some of our new aesthetic changes to the house...

before heading out for date-night at Lolita.

girl's weekend

This past weekend, T was gone for work again, so Meim came over for a girl's weekend (plus Moose)! We started at Grotto Friday evening and strolled through Beacon Hill to Beacon Hill Chocolates (notes on these tomorrow). Little did I know, these 6 pretty cupcakes were waiting for us at home! Clockwise from top-left: apple cider cupcake, chocolate with vanilla buttercream filling, ferrero rocher, red velvet, lemon-blueberry, oreo.

After filling up on sugar, we settled in for a horror movie night with popcorn.

The rest of the weekend was spent Mum shopping, heading to the Codman Estate Craft Fair, eating king crab legs, shopping for dresses & bedding, and trying the newest 5-week-old addition to the Newton culinary scene, Farmstead Table.
