simple weekend recap: edition 20

Superbowl weekend started with some homemade spinach & artichoke dip along with teriyaki chicken lettuce wraps (recipe tomorrow)...

...before looking through an old vacation diary which foreshadowed my love of food (looks like I had a lot of spaghetti, chicken, and a bunch of "super time"s!).

Saturday, a friend had their birthday dinner at the Elephant Walk (review later this week).

Superbowl Sunday was filled with prepping for homemade pizzas...

...before enjoying some guacamole...

...and pizzas! I made mine with ricotta, garlic olive oil, blue cheese dressing, hot sauce, mozzarella, baked chicken tenders, pepperoni & mushrooms. Mmmmm!

Dessert was bananas foster (recipe later this week)!!

brunch at tremont 647

I love brunch...I think most people like brunch, or at least I hope so because I see nothing to fault it. Saved for the weekend, filled with the most unhealthy of tasty dishes, and paired with their own line of cocktails, brunch is the epitome of good food & drink. Saturday morning (aka noon) I headed out to Tremont 647 with a friend to catch up. Located in the South End, Tremont 647 serves up a fun pajama brunch on both days of the weekend, along with $2 taco Tuesdays, oh right...and dinner every other night of the week! Casual, inexpensive, relaxed, and super friendly, Tremont 647 is definitely a place I will return.

We headed in for brunch and were seated immediately. Back we went past the bar full of jovial brunchers, the open kitchen with smiling chefs, and the waiters in pajamas to our seats.

Although the restaurant was filled we were able to sit, eat, and pay all within 40 minutes and weren't even rushed! If neither of us had plans following we could've stayed, but instead it was more of a power brunch. We took longer to decide what to order than even eat...as there are so many delicious looking brunch items!

I went with the Plain Jane Scramble with crispy bacon, hash browns, and grilled sourdough along with an iced vanilla bean coffee with cinnamon.

My friend went with the banana french toast with homemade nutella....mmmmmmm.

Now one of my top 3 go-to recommended brunch spots in Boston, I will definitely be back for dinner soon!

monday: simple weekend recap edition 1

After a busy weekend of guests rotating in and out, it's back to normal. Went out to two dinners (Bistro du Midi and 80 Thoreau) but was a terrible photographer and did not do well with that aspect this weekend...oops! This is the first of the "monday: simple weekend recap"s. Easy peasy, no pressure Mondays.

april showers bring may flowers and easy seasonal recipes

With the warm weather here to stay (until the rain  returns briefly), the seasonal veggies and flowers are welcome back! Warm weather means sandals, mini-dresses, flowers, smoothies, bright and healthful dinners!

Our yard is continuing to bloom, slowly but surely! And not to worry, Erin is also taking full advantage of the sun.

Wednesday night was a perfect mid-week break to have a mini-app date with a close friend. She brought the avocado and mango mixed greens with a nice vinaigrette. We also had the roasted artichokes, cause we're fancy like that. We finished up with homemade frozen yogurt and blueberry cubes!

Tonight I kicked off the warm weekend by making more of my favorite vegetable (asparagus)!! I whipped up an easy asparagus, mushroom, chicken, farfalle dish with a white wine and white truffle oil light sauce topped with parmigiano-reggiano. Easy, delicious, seasonal, and amazing as a left-over!

Now onto date-night movie-night! Enjoy your weekend!
