simple weekend recap: edition 5

This past weekend T, Erin, & I went to the lake to celebrate T's 26th birthday and go to our yearly day at the Saratoga Race Track to see the horses.

After a late night of driving & a late morning of sleeping, I woke to have some of my meim's home-made potato & cheese pierogis.

After a day of relaxation...

We headed out to dinner followed by an evening of family portraits (of which, Erin obviously got bored within 3 pictures) & basketball!

After our big work out, we relaxed by the lake while T's birthday cake thawed out!

The next day, we went to the track where I stuck to my regular bets of $1 to show on the gray horses, the long-shots, and the names that stick out. Unfortunately, as usual, I walked away -$5. Dang. We headed home to grill and relax before heading home.

the lakehouse according to erin

One of Erin's favorite places is my parent's house on the lake. The lake has a circumference of 3 miles and motors are not allowed on the water. It is quiet & relaxing and leaves Erin like this at the end of the weekend...

Erin requested a guest blog-post and I obviously obliged.

Hi there, my name is Erin as you have already heard hundreds of time (from my overprotective mother). I am willing to show you around some of my favorite places (you're welcome). This is me on the dock...eying my favorite vessel, the canoe! Here is a view of the glorious water I love to swim about in:

I swam and swam and swam some more with my boyfriend, Kodi the poodle.

Later Dad brought me out for a nice relaxing canoe ride (my favorite)!

Let me show you some of my favorite spaces...I love flowers and pretending like I am a plant that blends in...

After a day of exploring, I retired indoors for some snuggling & napping before a big night of fireworks!

After an exhausting weekend, I slept all the way home! Woof!

herb planter

After some inspiration, I enlisted T to build me a planter with sheet metal on the bottom for some herbs that can be easily switched from window to window or to a dining table for a simple centerpiece. For about $15 we got some rough-saw spruce and some herbs and T built this beaut.

Hopefully this inspires some outdoorsyness or backyard-gardening for you, too! Off to relax by the lake this weekend...
